Ursula – 2014

Octopus tentacles represent foul feelings in this instance; gross, invasive feelings with a mind of their own. Colors were experimentally brought into an otherwise monochrome piece through watercolor paint and colored pencil, meant to build on the bleakness of feeling, the severity of the discomfort and pain projected is mirrored in the sharp orange in the muddied colors.

This work, drawn in my bedroom in a house I was sharing with two friends, resonates more with me than anything else I’ve produced, although it has been critiqued less-than-favorably by an artist I strongly admire.
